What Is Laser Acne Treatment?

We don't often think about the appearance of our skin early in life. As we grow up, though, we begin to understand that skin health can have a big impact on our lives. For many people, this change happens with the onset of acne. Patients who live with acne normally have painful pimples or infected bumps on their cheeks, chin, and nose, their collarbone, upper back, shoulder blades, around their breasts or pectorals, and arms. It may significantly influence your life, not only from a cosmetic standpoint but from an emotional one, too. If you have tried countless medications, creams, or serums but nothing seems to work, acne laser therapy may be a wonderful choice for your acne. After their treatments, a lot of our Midland, TX skin patients see tremendous improvements in their acne and overall quality of life.

Basin Dermatology & Cosmetic Center is proud to offer advanced laser procedures that help treat active acne. Our practice is equipped with the CoolTouch laser, an innovative device that has shown remarkable results in treating acne. To learn more, reach out to our office and schedule your skin care consultation with our expert providers. We want you to feel great about yourself.

How Does Laser Acne Treatment Work?

Before your laser acne session starts, our technician will cleanse and exfoliate your skin to prepare it for treatment. During the procedure, the CoolTouch handpiece will be used to target blackheads, oil-producing glands, and bacteria that cause acne outbreaks. The device also delivers heat into the skin to promote collagen production and healing. The treatment should cause little to no discomfort, and most patients are able to return to their daily activities as soon as they leave our aesthetic office in Midland, TX. After the treatment, you may see light redness and bruising accompanied by mild skin sensitivity in the treatment area. As you recover over the next few days, we advise avoiding skin care products and extended sun exposure. Most patients are thrilled with the results they see after just one laser acne treatment, though 3 – 6 visits are normally needed to see the full benefits.

Skilled, kind, & knowledgeable! I have struggled with adult acne and scaring for years and after just a few visits I’m seeing the results I want. I’ve seen several of their providers and each one is incredible. That’s a rarity, I’m very glad to have found your practice.

About Us
Do laser acne treatments hurt?

No, many individuals just sense minor stinging from the treatment. Quite a few say it is like a "snapping" sensation at first that eventually fades as the skin acclimates to the feeling. Our team may apply a topical anesthetic to help make your procedure as smooth and calm as it can be.

Can acne be permanently addressed?

Regrettably, although acne can be diminished and managed, there is not a "permanent" cure for acne. Practically every person will live with some degree of acne at some point in their life. For a number of people, this condition can be severe, but for others, acne is occasionally, if ever, a concern. This is why we take a multi-pronged approach to treating acne that can be customized to your unique requirements.

Do particular foods trigger acne or make it worse?

In general, eating particular foods does not cause acne. Substantial research has been done into the link between specific food products and acne. However, the principal catalyst for acne is biological changes that can induce the sebaceous glands in the skin to overproduce sebum, which can block pores, leading to acne outbreaks. Though unconfirmed, there are particular foods that are said to make acne worse, like heavily fried foods, dairy foods, foods high in saturated fats, foods made using a lot of processed sugar, and milk chocolate. The connection between acne and these foods is that they can influence hormone amounts, which may cause acne.
