How Does Sclerotherapy Work?
Requiring no anesthesia and minimal time, sclerotherapy treatments at Basin Dermatology & Cosmetic Center are performed in the comfort of our private treatment rooms. The spider veins you want to target will be marked, and the overlying skin will be sanitized with alcohol. A fine needle will be inserted into the vein so the sclerosing solution can be introduced. After the needle is empty, it will be removed and a bandage will be put over the site of injection to stop any bleeding. This process can be repeated to treat all spider or varicose veins and may be paired with laser vein treatments to further improve your outcomes. While you may notice slight swelling, redness, or bruising around the injection site after your treatment, you should have minimal downtime. We often recommend that patients wear compression sleeves to encourage blood circulation and enhance their results.
