Checking Your Skin for Cancer
Your skin assessment will involve a comprehensive examination for birthmarks, moles, or any abnormal patches. The skin care team at Basin Dermatology & Cosmetic Center may construct a map of your skin to indicate existing areas of concern and to help quickly identify new marks at any future screenings. We'll also share guidance on how to perform a self-exam of your skin between screenings.
If our team identifies a suspicious area, they may perform a biopsy. This involves numbing the region before removing a small sample. The biopsy will be mailed to a pathology lab for evaluation. After our office receives your pathology report, you will be contacted with the results.
